welcome to Achad Therapy

Achad translates from Hebrew to mean one, or whole. This theme is at the core of our practices.

Wholeness is something we strive for all our clients to embrace within themselves. We want them to feel peaceful when lying in bed at night, and to feel fulfilled and connected to those around them in their daily life.

We realize that the journey of mental health can be complicated, and the road to healing is often full of different twists and turns. But we are here to support you along the journey.

To understand our clients, Achad Therapy takes a science-based approach. We believe that understanding the human body as it relates to mental health is vital for our clients' care.

Our goal is to work with you to help you begin to understand and learn how to regulate your nervous system, which will help you feel safe and supported in your daily life.

Our Beliefs

OUR BELIEFS

Power of Presence image_final-01.png

We don’t know what it is like to be you. You are unique and special; no one has been through what you have gone through. We lead with openness in each session, never assuming that we know more than our clients about what it means to operate in their bodies.

Continuous learning image_FINAL 2-01.png

We strive to keep up with the ever-evolving discoveries of this industry, currently theories such as Polyvagal theory highly influence the work we do. We believe new discoveries in mental health should continue to be implemented in the work we do.

Client Centered Image_final-01.png

Everyone is different, and there is no one-size-fits-all solution to mental health. We work with our clients to create a plan for treating their mental health that is specific to their individual needs.

our methods

Becoming a therapist takes years of training and schooling, all of which provides clinicians with many ways to help their clients regulate their nervous system.

While we may utilize different regulation strategies, our therapists have specialized training in the following two modalities:

EMDR and play therapy information is courtesy of EMDRIA and The Synergetic Play Therapy Institute.

Our Methods

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing

EMDR is a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that stem from disturbing life experiences. EMDR facilitates healing in the psyche the same way the body begins to heal a wound, and removes the blocks or imbalances caused by a prior traumatic experience. EMDR is a powerful practice that allows people to experience the benefits of psychotherapy that once took years to make a difference.

PLAY THERAPY

Making progress through play

Play allows you to operate in your right brain, which allows for children and adults to be able to work through many mental health symptoms without overthinking. Play allows us to let our guard down, and reveal what really is going on inside. During a play therapy session, the therapist observes, remarks, and journeys together with the client in order to help them gain awareness of what is happening.

OUR OFFICE IS OPEN TO EVERYONE

Achad Therapy welcomes adults, teens and children from all walks of life, and refuses to pathologize any person. We want to serve you - no matter what your mental health goals may be.
